THANKS A MILLION
"March of 2008, for me, started off just like any other month. I worked all day, came home in the evening, ate my supper, did homework with my son, spent time with the family, ate some more, watched t.v., and as you may have noted, ate some more yet again.
One of the main reasons for the food indulgence stemmed around the fact I had quit smoking some two years earlier after smoking for almost thirty years. At the time I was already overweight and steadily expanding with each passing month since throwing away the butts.
In a nutshell, I couldn’t run the length of myself without
puffing and panting like an old dog.
In the latter part of March while in Summerside, PEI with some co-workers of mine, one of them told me about the Biggest Loser contest being organized through Cardiofitbootcamp. I had always been a big fan of the reality t.v. hit show, The Biggest Loser,
so my interest was tweaked.
Upon arriving back in Paradise, I researched the particulars and commenced with the application process. Reality set in shortly thereafter when I got the call on my cell from Tina and Steve advising I was selected as one of the six finalists for Newfoundland’s first ever Biggest Loser contest. I was in the line-up at Tim Horton’s with my son at the time. I was so excited that I pulled from the line-up and headed home.
Well, let me tell you. I had no idea what being selected actually meant and would mean, but I knew from day one that Cardio Fit Bootcamp would be the driving force behind my new lifestyle change. I’ve done it all; different gyms, diets, weight watchers, you name it, but nothing really worked. To be perfectly honest, I had not even heard of
Cardio Fit Bootcamp until my co-worker, Cathy had told me.
Entering my first bootcamp session, I sized up everyone around me. People of all sizes, shapes, ages, wow! Two things immediately struck me; I didn’t stand out and everyone in the group looked like they belonged. There was a great sense of inclusion evident throughout.
On the first day my trainer Tina Osmond had me run one kilometre and without question, I thought my sides and lungs were going to explode. I thought I would die and that night and for the first few weeks, every bone in my body ached. But every day brought something different and for every ache came a new challenge, different workouts, new routines, and most of all immediate results
while having fun like never experienced before.
After eight weeks, I had lost 54.50lbs, over 30 inches off my entire body and 21.70% of my body fat gone!!!!! I have just entered my third round of bootcamp and feel absolutely great.
Winning Newfoundland’s first ever Biggest Loser contest was one thing, but finding new friends, losing old fat, experiencing what it’s like to chase after my six year old without turning red in the face, or tying shoes without using a set of stairs, passing over chocolate bars and potato chips for grapes and an apple are without a doubt much more gratifying than any trip or gift certificates I have won.
These things will come and go,
but the energy and good feelings now stored inside are here to stay.
Steve and Tina and Tina O, I thank you all from the heart for this opportunity and for all the help, guidance and assistance
each of you have provided over these pass few months.
I do look forward to the many months ahead.
People, if you’re willing to put your heart and soul into doing something good for yourself, then you too will reap the benefits. Take it from a previously overweight, middle-aged ex-smoker, hard work, determination and the right program works.
I experienced all three with Cardio Fit Bootcamp
and enjoyed every single moment of it.
You can too!"

Yvonne Clinton:

All right it’s way beyond boot camp start time for me really. I admit it I’ve needed a swift kick in the butt when it comes to getting into shape for too many years. I’ve made attempts before whether they be with diets or visits to the gym but always seem to lack the motivation which I can only guess I would obtain from this supportive opportunity.
I’m a single working Mom of two small children, they are my life and I’ve put my health on the back burner for way too long. We left an abusive relationship in Alberta in 2005, my son was actually only 5 months old when we drove away from the women’s shelter to start our cross Canada road trip. I’m a very positive person and pride myself on looking at the bright side of life which has been an immense help with getting my family through our hard times.
I want to lose weight and get healthy for the benefit of
myself first and secondly for my children.
I want to be more active with my kids and be able to enjoy more fun
outdoor activities with them. It’s time
for me to get the old me back again – please help to kick my butt into
gear!
Phillip Coles:

Why should I be chosen? I should be chosen to take part in this contest for these reasons. My weight is 350 lbs + , I have high blood pressure, high blood sugar and also have a problem with my liver because of my weight. This may end up taking my life, My Doctor tells me if I keep going this way I may end up in a wheelchair in 10 years. 10 years! I am only 29......this is why I should be chosen.
Why I want to lose weight? I want to lose weight for one simple reason and that is to live!! To live a long and happy life. But I know if keep going this way I will miss so much. I know with your help I can live a healthy life. To me this contest is not about winning trips or prizes, it is about learning how to be healthy and about getting my life back. It's not
about winning it's about living.
Stacey Evans:

I have been
overweight my whole life and I can't remember a time when I haven't been kinda
dieting and kinda exercising. Becoming healthy has always been a distant goal
but it has recently become a major priority for me. As a young
cancer survivor, I realize the importance of being healthy and no longer want my
size to hold me back from participating in all that life has to offer.
I have my work cut out for me as while recovering I became even more out
of shape not being able to do much physical activity. I can now
get back to what I was doing before getting sick but need help to step things
up!
While going through chemo my wonderful and supportive boyfriend asked me to be his bride! Walking down the aisle in 2009 is going to be amazing and it would be even better if I could start my married life smaller and healthier!
You should pick me as I really believe Cardio Fit BootCamp can help me reach my goals and I could inspire others. I'm determined to get into shape and would love to share my story.
Roxanne Fifield:

I am 45 years old and overweight. The weight I have gained over the years has been gradual but continuous since I quit smoking six years ago. I have tried to change my lifestyle and eating habits but still gain weight. I really need help in understanding what I am doing wrong. I am seriously considering gastric band surgery but my husband is against it. My weight has ballooned to 225 pounds and I am now developing type 2 diabetes. I feel every extra pound I have on and I am embarrassed to see people I haven’t seen in a while because I know they are saying, “Roxanne has certainly put on weight”.
I was a National class athlete who sprinted on the Canadian
National Relay team and I competed in two Canada Games. I still hold the records for the fastest time
in Newfoundland and I am not
afraid of hard work, actually enjoy the challenge. I know if I chosen I will do everything that
is asked of me and second place is not an option.
Todd Grant:

For 38 yrs, I've ignored the fact that I have battled a constant weight problem. Sleepless nights, lingering aches and pains, overall lack of energy and health issues are enough reasons for myself to want to tackle this issue, but fortunately for me there are many more reasons. I am a self employed business owner within a successful Franchise (West Side Charlies - I own the water street location), and I am constantly in the public eye. But in the business world, appearances are everything, and my appearance screams "big fat guy" ---- I want customers to concentrate on my personality and skills, not my weight. Then there is my family. For as long as I can remember I will not get my picture taken because I dislike the reinforcement of staring at the fat person in the picture. So because of this, I am doing this for my fiancée and our wedding pictures next year. I would love nothing better than to stand proudly in front of the photographer, looking forward to seeing the pictures. I want to play sports with my step kids, but most days I feel like a 60yr old man, stuck in a 38 year old body because of the aches and pains. I am your perfect bootcamp client, and there is no doubt in my mind that I will be Newfoundland's Biggest Loser ! Please take me on board and transform this 38 year old body.
Randy Somerton:

I'm your average hefty 'Joe',
typical government employee and a published author. I work day and night using my computer, so
I’m not overly active. I have the will
and determination to turn my life around with the right
direction/guidance provided. In June/06, after smoking for 30 years, I quit
(cold turkey) and never looked back. It was tough! I replaced cigarettes with mars bars and
chips. Sad but true! I tried different gyms, but when you’re
advised to walk around a track during the warm up and kick your heels behind
your back at 260lbs it just doesn’t seem right! I want to lose weight for myself,
but also for my family. My wife and I
have been foster parents for 15yrs.
We’ve helped to raise many special needs and terminally ill
children. My life has
been very gratifying. In March/06 we were given an opportunity to adopt
our son Kane and jumped at the chance.
He has special needs and just recently turned 6yrs old. I really want to ensure I place myself in a
position to be there for him and my entire family for many years yet to
come. As both of us celebrate birthdays this month, what a wonderful present to
a new start in life.
